To The Granger Family (English)

The faculty and staff of the Granger School District were deeply saddened to learn of the death by suicide of one of our high school students. Our thoughts and prayers are with this student’s loved ones. We ask that as thoughts and condolences are shared, that private and personal information about the student and family be respected.

All middle school and high school teachers were asked to read a statement this morning in first period classes letting the students know about the death of this young person. A safe space at the high school, middle school and elementary are set up for today and tomorrow, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Counselors will be on hand to help our school community process this loss. All are welcome and encouraged to seek help in dealing with the feelings that arise in the wake of such events.

Experiencing, witnessing, or even hearing of a traumatic incident such as this may affect a child or adult in a variety of ways; therefore, it is very important that students and teachers be given ample opportunity to ask questions and to talk about their reactions. For some students, a death of someone they know may remind them of some other loss in their lives. For others, this may be their first encounter with death. We suggest that you make an extra effort to listen to your child during this time. It is important that you deal honestly and directly with any questions that he or she may have.

There are resources available including Comprehensive Healthcare at 1-800-572-8122 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 if you or someone you know has any questions or concerns. These are also great resources for your child and family if your child is struggling with their own thoughts of suicide. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's school if additional assistance is needed during this difficult time.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
